Kaillie Humphries is a Canadian-American ice skater. She and Elana Meyers was the first women squad to pilot a mixed-gender team in a four-person bobsled competition and also drove an all-female team against men in a four-person World Cup bobsled race. It is known that she was coached by Stefan Bosch. She is in limelight for her performance in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and winning the gold medal in the Monobob event.

Early Life

Kaillie Humphries was born on 4th September 1985 in Calgary, Alberta. The names of her parents are Ray Simundson and Cheryl Simundson. She also has siblings whose names are Jordan Simundson and Shelby Simundson. Kaillie must have completed her high school studies at a local school in her hometown. The details about her schooling and further education have not been shared with the media. At a young age, she started training for skiing.

Kaillie Humphries Career

Kaillie showed interest in a skiing career at a young age. She was determined and focused to compete professionally. In 2002 she started Bobsled’s career and remained with the Canadian team. She was seen at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino. From 2007 to 2013 she was competing at various competitions. The matches were FIBT World Cup Season, Altenburg World Championship, Winterberg World Championship, Lake Placid World Championship, St. Moritz Championship, Igls single event world cup, Whistler event, Park City world cup single events, and many more.

From 2014 to 2018 she competed at many matches. She was seen at the PyeongChang Olympic Winter game, FIBT World Cup Season, Konigssee World Championship, Sochi singles event, Altenbery singles event, Lake Placid singles event, Calgary singles event, and more matches. Recently in 2022, she is seen competing in ay Beijing Olympic Winter Game.

Controversy

In 2018 she filed a harassment complaint against Head coach Todd Hays of Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton. She wanted to release herself from BCS but it was refused because of her competitive reasons which led to a lawsuit with the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada. In September 2019 she submitted a list of conditions under which she would be willing to compete for Canada and an independent investigation was also conducted by Hill Advisory inc. where there was not enough evidence to convict Hays, Le Bihan, or Storey. She was also granted a request to be released from the Canadian program and started competing for the United States. On 15th July 2021, she received a decision from the SDRCC arbitrator that the investigation of Mr. Hill was not thorough nor reasonable.
