Sofia Wylie is an American actress and dancer known for her role as Buffy Driscoll on the Disney Channel series Andi Mack. She is also the recipient of Best Young Ensemble in a Television Series at the 2019 Young Entertainer Awards.
Early life
Sofia Wylie was born in Scottsdale, Arizona on January 7, 2004, to parents Chris Wylie and Amy Wylie. She grew up in the town of Tramonto and has an older sister named Isabella or Bella, who featured in an episode of Chopped Junior and won. Since she was 5 years of age, Wylie received dancing and acting training from Second City Training Center in Hollywood, California. She also got trained at Diverse Elements Dance studio in Phoenix, Arizona.
Sofia Wylie Career
Wylie made her television debut by appearing on a reality show, So You Think You Can Dance in 2011 as a dancer. Then in 2015, she appeared on America’s Got Talent, and around the same time, she also performed on Justin Bieber’s Purpose World Tour. In 2017, Sofia was seen in episodes of the comedy series Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn. She was also cast in the main role as Buff Driscoll in Andi Mack along with dancers from Utah. She was seen in the series till 2019, and also won an award at Young Entertainer Awards for Best Young Ensemble in a Television Series. In February 2019, it was announced that Wylie will be cast on the Disney + series High School Musical: The Musical: The Series as Gina Porter, which was premiered in November later that year.
Sofia also launched her own production company, AIFOS in March 2019 and like their first project, they are set to adapt The Fall of Innocence, Jenny Torres Sanchez’s novel. She also signed her contract with United Talent Agency in June 2019. Subsequently, in 2019, she did two voice roles one for the animated television film Marvel Rising: Heart of Iron as Ironheart / Riri Williams and another in Marvel Rising: Battle of the Bands as the same character. She also appeared in the Australian-American film Back of the Net and was also cast as a lead role in the Disney channel’s short-form web series Shook as Amelia Mia Brooks.
Modeling
Apart from acting, dancing, and modeling, she has also tried her hand at singing, in fact in January 2019 she debuted her first single Side to Side for Marvel Rising: Chasing Ghosts. Sofia while growing up also featured on popular dancer and choreographer, Matt Steffanina’s videos and currently also runs her own YouTube channel where she vlogs, dances, and choreographies with more than 109k subscribers. The channel has been active for the past 5 years.
Upcoming projects
In 2021 Sofia will be seen portraying Agatha alongside Sophia Anne Caruso in the upcoming Netflix fantasy film, The School for Good and Evil, which is an adaptation of book series by Soman Chainani.
